We know that the process of being on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), right from the start, brings a lot of questions. Andif you're already on the verge of getting on TRT, you may be wondering: What will the first few months feel like? Will you notice changes right away?
At Craft Men’s Clinic, we guide you through those early stages with a plan tailored to your needs, consistent check-ins, and ongoing support. Here’s what you can expect as your body begins to adjust and respond to treatment.
Getting Started: The First Week of TRT
During the first week of TRT at Craft Men’s Clinic, you will go through several key steps.
You'll begin with a comprehensive assessment that includes lab work to measure your current testosterone levels (we'll send you a kit). Once your results are in, you will have a virtual appointment with one of our experienced physicians.
During this consultation, the doctor will review your lab results, discuss your symptoms, and consider your health history. This helps us create a treatment plan that is specific to your needs (and pinpoint what kind of administering type is suitable for you).
Once the plan is established, you will receive your first dose of TRT.
Weeks 2–4: Adjusting to TRT
During the second and third weeks, the body begins to adapt to the new testosterone levels.
What to Expect Physically
- Slight increases in energy and stamina during daily activities.
- Improved mental clarity and sharper focus.
- Gradual mood stabilization as hormone levels balance.
Common Side Effects
- Mild acne or oily skin as hormone levels adjust.
- Water retention that may cause slight bloating.
- Mood swings or irritability, typically temporary.
Weeks 5–8: Noticing Physical and Mental Changes
By the fifth week, more noticeable changes often begin to appear. Physically, you may start to see improved muscle tone and faster recovery after exercise. Many men report feeling stronger and more capable during workouts, which can lead to increased motivation to stay active.
Six weeks after the start of your treatment, we'll be in contact with you. This is part of our regular check-in.
Mentally, the benefits of TRT may become more pronounced. Enhanced focus, better mood, and improved clarity are common during this phase. Irritability and brain fog often decrease as testosterone levels stabilize.
Low testosterone symptoms such as fatigue, mood swings, and lack of motivation may begin to fade, making daily activities feel more manageable. Sleep quality can also improve, leading to a more refreshed feeling upon waking.
Weeks 9–12: Optimizing the Treatment Plan
The final weeks of the first 90 days focus on refining your treatment plan. By now, your body has had time to adjust to TRT, and more consistent patterns will emerge.
During this phase, our physicians will assess how your body is responding to TRT. If you have not experienced the expected benefits or if side effects persist, adjustments may be necessary.
The goal here is to find the balance that delivers noticeable improvements while minimizing side effects.
Don't worry, ongoing support remains a key aspect of the Craft Men’s Clinic approach. After our follow-up during the six-week mark, we'll check in every 90 days after that.
At this point, discussions may also include setting long-term goals for maintaining energy, strength, and overall health. This ensures that your TRT plan continues to align with your evolving needs and lifestyle.
